Cook's Law of Protest Groups

Yet again, I am unfortunately reminded of Cook's 4th law, the law of protest groups.

In any protest group, there are three subgroups

  1. One third of the members are emotionally invested in their protest. They are not amendable to debate or discussion, they only want their belief validated

  2. One third of the members are intellectually invested in their protest. They will engage in debate and discussion, and will change their minds if approprite compelling evidence is provied

  3. One third of the members are married to or otherwise emotionally connected to the first third, and are only engaged in the protest to preseve peace in the rest of their life
